Short-Term Professional SMART Goals

Strengthen Evidence-Based Practice Skills

I will improve my ability to apply evidence-based practice by completing at least two peer-reviewed research appraisals per month related to emergency and critical care nursing and implementing at least one evidence-based change in my clinical practice within 6 months, as demonstrated through unit-based feedback or practice updates.

Enhance Leadership and Delegation

I will improve my leadership effectiveness by participating in at least one formal leadership development activity or continuing education course within 6 months and applying structured delegation and communication strategies during 100% of charge nurse shifts over the next 12 months and seek evaluation through peer and supervisor feedback.

Long-Term Professional SMART Goals

Develop Into a Clinical Nurse Leader

Within the next five years, I will become a recognized clinical leader in my critical care unit by expanding my leadership responsibilities, mentoring new nurses, obtaining specialty certifications, and actively participating in unit-based quality improvement initiatives.

Pursue Graduate Education

Within the next five years, I will pursue graduate education to expand my clinical knowledge and leadership abilities while preparing for an advanced nursing role.
